Hand wash ONLY

Wash the silk bandana by hand, not in the washing machine. Wash it in cold water, without rubbing with other materials as this will damage the fabric. Cold (not hot!) water will help prolong the life of the fabric. An advantage of silk is that it will not shrink.

Check for colorfastness. Some silk garments may bleed in the wash, so test a damp area by dabbing with a wet, white cloth to see if any color leaks onto it.

Wash the silk bandana with a liquid detergent, pH neutral, dedicated to fine, natural fabrics. Powdered or crystal detergents can damage or stain the fiber if they do not dissolve completely.

Never wash with chlorine bleach. It can damage your clothing’s natural fibers.

Do not dry in direct sunlight. Exposing your garment to long bursts of sunlight can cause the colors to fade or even damage your silk fabrics.

Do not tumble dry. Silk is very delicate and the high temperatures of the tumble dryer can shrink or damage your silks.

Being so delicate, silk should not be wrung out but placed wet between two soft towels made of natural fabric, e.g. cotton, and gently squeezed, then hung to dry on a hanger or stretched out flat.

Iron it perfectly while still damp by placing a handkerchief or something thin over it, at a temperature set for fine clothes. Or use a steamer instead of a traditional iron.
